Senior Researcher - Hydrology/Hydrological Modeling

With an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Spatial Hydrology & Geo-information Science & Earth Observation, is a senior researcher of water resources modelling, climate change, and remote sensing for hydrological applications. He has hands on experience in hydrological modelling, remote sensing data analysis, setting up citizen science programs, community-based flood early warning system and establishing observation networks. Alemseged has led several capacity development activities in remote sensing and water resources. These capacity development activities include teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, development of curriculum of Earth Observation for hydrology at Arba Minch Water Technology Institute and leading selected activities of the “Capacity Development of Higher Education Institutions in Small-Scale Irrigation (and Micro Irrigation)” project. He supervised several graduate students and interns under various IWMI research projects. Alemseged published more than 50 articles on internationally recognized scientific journals. Currently, Alemseged is leading the capacity development and user engagement pillar of Digital Innovations for Water Secure Africa (DIWASA) project.
