Archisman Mitra

Regional Researcher

I am a water resource economist with over 11 years of experience specializing in micro-econometric analysis and impact evaluation of development programs and policies, with a focus on the water sector in South Asia. I hold a Master’s degree in Economics from New York University (2012) and have since worked with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and CIMMYT. Since 2018, I have been a researcher in Water Resource Economics at IWMI, Delhi. At IWMI, my research is at the intersection of energy and water in agriculture, an essential area for achieving water security and addressing climate change impacts. My work involves balancing irrigation needs for food security and poverty reduction in developing countries with the long-term sustainability of this scarce resource.
