Board of GovernorsJulien Harou (Belgium) is the Managing Director of the University of Manchester, UK.
He joined the Board in April 2023.
Harou is an internationally recognized expert on modelling water resource system planning and management including economic drivers of water use and allocation, water trading, infrastructure portfolio optimization and planning of water supply under uncertainty.
Harou is a recipient of the NASA Launch Innovator award for his group’s early contributions to open-source water management software. He is the Chair in Water Engineering in the University of Manchester since 2013 and was previously a lecturer at University College London. Harou has a PhD from the University of California Davis in water resources engineering and economics and a Master’s degree from Cornell University.
